Garissa gubernatorial aspirant Mohamed Shidiye, has lauded the appointment of, Leyla Ibrahim, as the new Chief of Staff for Health terming the move as progressive.
Mr Shidiye congratulated the new appointee saying her appointment reflects the county’s commitment to addressing the critical challenges in the health sector.
“Leyla, your appointment comes at a time when the people of Garissa are in dire need of efficient, accessible, and quality healthcare services,” he said.
Mr Shidiye said health was the backbone of any thriving society, and Leyla’s leadership in her new portfolio will be crucial in ensuring that the people of Garissa receive the care they deserve.

He acknowledged the immense challenges ahead, particularly in addressing health disparities, improving access to medical facilities, and ensuring adequate staffing and resources across the county’s vast regions.
Mr. Shidiye, who has been a vocal advocate for improved health services in Garissa, took to the stage to extend his congratulations to Ms. Leyla.
“The responsibility that comes with this role is not only significant but also demanding. I have no doubt that you have the capability, determination, and wisdom to rise to the occasion,” he said.
Mr Shidiye, Kemya’s former ambassador to Botswana, told Leyla her new station was not just about managing a department; but was about transforming lives.

“The provision of health services in Garissa has been a complex and ongoing challenge, and it is up to leaders like you to provide solutions that will have a lasting impact,” Mr. Shidiye remarked.
The former envoy joined local leaders and residents at a Thanksgiving ceremony in Garissa Town to celebrate the appointment of Leyla as the new County Chief of Staff in charge of Health.
The event, which brought together opinion leaders, community elders, and county officials, marked a moment of pride for many, as Leyla’s appointment was seen as a significant step towards strengthening healthcare services in the region.
