Puntland’s King Harun pledges fostering strong ties with Kumade community in Kenya.

King Marjeeten Boqor Burhan Boqor Harun of Puntland, Somalia, has expressed his commitment to fostering stronger ties between Puntland and the Kumade community in Kenya.

King Harun said he envisioned a future in which both regions could thrive through mutual support and shared goals.

The Puntland King was speaking in Nairobi where he paid a courtesy call on the officials of the Kumade Community and engaged them in discussions cross-cutting issues related to the community’s development.

“Puntland and the Kumade community are bound by a shared history and a common destiny. It is my belief that through mutual support and collaboration, we can overcome the challenges we face and build a prosperous future,” King Harun said.

During the discussions, the leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing challenges faced by the Kumade community, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and economic development.

“Your insights and dedication are invaluable,” he said during the meeting. “Together, we can address the challenges facing our people and build a brighter future. Let us move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and a shared vision for our prosperity.”

The gathering included a spectrum of influential figures: former Fafi MP Hon. Elias Bare Shill, President of the Kumade community in the Horn of Africa, Mohamed Shidiye, Kenya’s former ambassador to Botswana.

Also present was Mohamed Salah, former ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Siyad Osman, former ambassador to Pakistan, and Abdirahman Olow, former Senator of Wajir. Their collective experience and leadership were a testament to the significance of the occasion.

Other notable leaders present during the meeting with King Marjeeten Harun included: Garad Abdikadir Hussein, Director Ahmed Hussein, chairman Kumade Wajir County, Mzee Abdirashid, chairman Kumade community Nairobi chapter.

Others were Ahmed Duale, chairman Owaso Nyiro Authority and Ogaden elder, Abdirahman Raabi, JBB party leader Jubaland and presidential aspirant, Bashir Abass, director Owaso Nyiro Authority, Mr Abdirizak Eyay, Mr Aden Buno and Saed Siibad, transporter.

Mr Shill with his extensive experience in regional politics, emphasized the critical need for educational reforms.

“Education is the cornerstone of any thriving community. By investing in our schools and training our teachers, we lay the foundation for future generations to succeed,” Mr Shill said.

Mr Shidiye spoke about the role of international partnerships in enhancing healthcare noting that healthcare is not just a local issue but a global one.

“We must seek international support and partnerships to improve our healthcare infrastructure and provide better services to our people,” Mr Shidiye emphasized.

Mr Salah and Mr Osman, both former ambassadors, highlighted the importance of economic development with Mr Salah suggesting initiatives for sustainable economic growth, while Mr Osman stressed the importance of creating job opportunities and fostering entrepreneurship within the community.

Mr Olow spoke about the need for political stability and effective governance.

“Strong institutions and good governance are essential for progress. We must work together to ensure that our political structures support our development goals,” Mr Olow said.
