Garissa 2027 gubernatorial aspirant Ambassador Mohamed Muktar Shidiye, has pledged to lead Garissa into a future that celebrates its shared values, collective aspirations, and untold potential.
In his speech, during the launch of Team Shidiye for Garissa Governor 2027 Nairobi Chapter at Paradise Hall in Pumwani, Shidiye emphasised that his candidacy was not driven by political ambition, but by a deeply personal commitment to the people of Garissa.
“I stand before you this evening, not only as an aspirant, but as a son of our great county of Garissa,” Shidiye began, his voice steady but filled with conviction. “I come with a heart full of hope, a spirit committed to service, and a mind set on transformative change.”
In a powerful and impassioned address before a packed gathering, amidst cheers, applause, and a profound sense of unity, Shidiye outlined his vision for a transformed Garissa, a county burdened with challenges yet brimming with untapped potential.
The 2027 gubernatorial race is already shaping up to be one of the most contested in the county’s history, with Shidiye pledging to lead Garissa into a future that celebrates its shared values, collective aspirations, and untold potential.
In his speech, Kenya’s former ambassador to Botswana emphasised his dream to provide servant-leadership that aims to change the lives of people of Garissa for better.

“Together, we will craft a roadmap for our county’s future,” Shidiye said adding; My manifesto, MY PROMISE, is not about politics. It is about people. It is about service. It is about lifting one another up, ensuring that no one is left behind.”
Shidiye’s MY PROMISE manifesto is a blueprint for Garissa’s future, crafted through months of consultations with residents across the county. The envoy shared that these discussions were not just about hearing concerns but about listening intently and understanding the heart of Garissa.
“I have had the privilege of engaging with you, the people of Garissa, in countless consultative meetings. Your stories, your concerns, your dreams, and your aspirations have been at the centre of every conversation, every idea, every plan I have formed,” he said.
This community-driven approach is at the core of his vision, one that addresses Garissa’s deepest needs while laying the foundation for lasting change. Shidiye emphasised the urgency of tackling poverty, inequality, and food security, issues that have long plagued the county.
“Poverty eradication is at the heart of my vision,” Shidiye asserted. “We will work relentlessly to reduce inequality, enhance access to essential services, and strengthen our social safety nets. By collaborating with all leaders across the county, we will target the root causes of poverty and create a more just and equal society for all.”

Addressing Garissa’s most pressing challenges, the manifesto outlines bold, actionable steps to improve food security, healthcare, education, energy access, and unemployment.
“Food security is not just a statistic for us; it is a painful reality,” Shidiye said, underscoring the need for sustainable agricultural initiatives and improved nutrition to ensure that no Garissan goes to bed hungry.
With an unwavering commitment to healthcare, Shidiye pledged to strengthen Garissa’s health systems. “A healthy community is the foundation of a prosperous community,” he reminded the crowd, vowing to improve access to quality healthcare and tackle communicable diseases.
The empowerment of women and youth is also central to Shidiye’s vision. “By providing legal reforms, reducing gender-based violence, and creating leadership opportunities for women, we will build a stronger, fairer Garissa for all,” he said, drawing attention to the need for gender equality and social justice.
Youth empowerment, particularly through job creation and innovation, was another key point of Shidiye’s speech. “We will foster a business-friendly environment, promote job creation, and ensure that our youth and women have access to affordable loans to start businesses,” he declared.

His administration promises to champion emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), creating innovation hubs, sports and creative economy academies to provide Garissa’s youth with the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.
As the crowd listened intently, Shidiye also addressed the looming challenges of climate change, which have severely impacted the county. “We have all felt the effects of climate change—droughts, floods, and extreme weather patterns,” he said, stressing the importance of building climate resilience and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Shidiye’s candidacy is not just a political campaign but a call to action, a plea for the people of Garissa to rally behind a vision of hope, unity, and progress.
With his pledge to leave no one behind, Shidiye’s manifesto is framed as a promise to all citizens, from the most marginalised in the rural areas to the most vulnerable in urban centres.

“Brothers and sisters, this manifesto is not just a set of goals,” Shidiye said, his voice rising with passion. “It is a promise to you, the people of Garissa that I will serve you with dedication, integrity and a deep sense of responsibility.”
As the evening drew to a close, Shidiye appealed to his audience for their trust and support. “Together, we will build a Garissa that stands as a beacon of hope, prosperity, and progress for all,” he said, his words met with a resounding applause.
Shidiye’s vision is clear: a Garissa where every individual has access to the opportunities they deserve, a Garissa where poverty, inequality, and hunger are tackled head-on, and a Garissa that stands proudly at the forefront of Kenya’s development.
